I had never heard of Alpbach before but I somehow figured it had to do something with Alps (no sh*t Sherlock haha). Alpbach was one of the most beautiful mountain villages I have ever been to. It is impossible to look around and see something that doesn’t make you feel calm and relaxed. The entire village is set into the mountains and throughout the walkable roads you can find quaint stores, two pubs and only one super-charming hairdresser. Our house was situated 2km from the center of the village and each day we got to walk or hitchhike. Walking through the green fields was the best way to find breathtaking little stops to take pictures in front of. In each house you would see the prettiest plants and flowers scattered through out the windows. It was a total dream.
The most amazing thing I have ever ever ever encountered in my life was watching the pristine night sky in Alpbach. The sky was dark and thousands of stars were perfectly visible. Unfortunately, the only constellation I know is the Ursa Minor (small bear), but seeing this stunning view made me curious about all the constellations. I even saw a shooting star one night and I made a wishhh…
Besides the views, the seminars I attended during the European Forum Alpbach were amazing. One tackled Scientific Excellence and Social Responsibility and the other one Gender Issues in Complex Societies. Making new friends and getting to exchange thoughts and ideas in a diverse environment while situated in an amazing place like Alpbach was dreeeamyyy indeed.
